VIRGINIA BAPTIST FORUM: Darfur atrocities Print E-mail
By Robert Lingle
Tuesday, May 26, 2009

Your editorial on the atrocities against the people of Darfur was vividly thorough, though long overdue. While I commend you for your coverage, I was appalled at your veiled comparisoin of the alleged torture of prisoners at the Guantanamo prison by the Bush administration with the inhumane annihilation, village burning, rape and enslavement by the government of Sudan.

I found it interesting that the Arab League recently refused to condemn President Omar al-Bashir for his ethnic cleansing and religiously-oriented (a fact you overlooked) and murderous rampage in Darfur.

Robert Lingle, Eatonton, Ga.
