How shameful it is that our secular media blames President Bush and our country for causing nearly every hostility that occurs almost anywhere in the world and at the same time blames us for interjecting ourselves in others quarrels and then also, at the same time, blames us for not interjecting ourselves and our influence to stop hostilities we did not start.

How much worse it is to read Robert Parham's condemnation of the U.S.'s participation/nonparticipation in the current attempt by Israel to finally say “enough is enough” [Herald, July 27].

There “is” a difference in noncombatants.

The Lebanese that practice hate and march in the streets in support of Hezbollah have only themselves to blame for whatever befalls them after harboring terrorists in their country and allowing them to threaten and kill innocent Israeli citizens whose only crime is that they live next door to Lebanon. By the way, the Lebanese have the choice to move 25 miles north out of harms way (about as far as Front Royal to Winchester) until Hezbollah has been defeated.

Anyone who has been in the military or has been responsible for dealing with organizations that want you dead or converted to Islam understand that freedom is not free and terrorists are not contained by a meaningless cease fire.

Israel deserves to be allowed to live in peace and nothing Mr. Parham has to say addresses that.

Only people with courage, wisdom and resolve can eradicate the cancer that is Hezbollah. These kinds of people in many countries (especially those in our military) have given their lives so that Mr. Parham and others like him can defame the U.S. at will and without recourse. Shame on Mr. Parham and those who constantly loose sight of what the real issues are and who the really bad guys are.
