VBMB staff member Hazel Mallory dies Print E-mail

Hazel W. Mallory, 63, a longtime member of the Virginia Baptist Mission Board staff, died June 24 after a battle with cancer.

She began her employment career in Richmond with the Equitable Insurance Group and for the past 31 years had worked for the Virginia Baptist Mission Board as administrative assistant for three executive directors.

She was an active member of Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church in Richmond and a former member of North Run Baptist Church, having served both churches in various capacities. Born in Elgood, W. Va., she was raised in Glen Lyn, Va.

She was predeceased by her husband, C.C.; and her parents, Archie R. and Opal H. White.

Survivors include her son, Rick Mallory and his wife, Laura; her daughter, Melissa Street and her husband, Ben; her grandchildren, Andy, Sam, Rachel, Daniel and Joseph Mallory, and Brittany and Blaine Street; her brother, Curtis White and his wife, Barbara; her sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Raub; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 28, at Hatcher Memorial Church with Michael Poole, John Upton, Bob Lynch, Reginald McDonough and Rick Mallory officiating. Interment was at Westhampton Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
