Texas leadership consultant Harriet Harral will be nominated as the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship's moderator-elect, the highest elected position in the national group.
The CBF moderator presides at the group's annual General Assembly and leads the Coordinating Council, or executive committee. Nominees for moderator-elect rotate by laity-clergy and by gender.
Each year, the moderator-elect automatically succeeds the moderator at the conclusion of the one-year term. This year's moderator is San Francisco pastor Joy Yee. She will be followed by Emmanuel McCall, retired pastor of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in College Park, Ga. If CBF constituents approve Harral's nomination in June, she will preside over the 2008 General Assembly.
A deacon at Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Harral operates the Harral Group, a consulting firm specializing in facilitation, management, communication and organization. She also sits on the board of directors of Associated Baptist Press.
Harral earned a doctorate from the University of Colorado and has written two books, Leadership Skills for Women and Strategies for Teaching Interpersonal Skills. She serves as national president for the Community Leadership Association.
