RICHMOND — Lakewood Manor, a component of Virginia Baptist Homes, has completed its new health services center and residents began occupying the units this month.

The center will provide a residential living environment with 96 private nursing care residences and 32 assisted living residences. Its Memory Garden offers a unique therapeutic benefit for seniors. The first of its kind in the area, the garden will serve as a model for other continuing care retirement communities. The garden design received the Muse Award for Creativity presented by the Museum of Fine Arts in April 2006.

“Virginia Baptist Homes strives to meet the changing needs and expectations of today's seniors and their families while remaining true to its original promise—to provide a whole creative lifestyle for those who benefit from the security of an extended caring family,” said Holly Raidabaugh, the Homes' director of marketing. “The new health services center is just one of the many ways that VBH continues to meet the ever changing needs its residents now and in the future.”

Virginia Baptist Homes operates three other retirement communities—in Culpeper, Roanoke and Newport News—and a foundation.
