The basketball league will be run through Upward Basketball, a program designed to promote salvation, character and sportsmanship to all who participate.

Registration for first through sixth grade children has begun and extends through Nov. 10. Registration forms are available at First Baptist Church office, at 2709 Monument Avenue, or at www.fbcrichmond. org/upward. Early registration fee is $75, after Oct 27 it will increase to $85. The registration fee includes a reversible mesh jersey and shorts, t-shirt, individual awards after each practice and game and an end of the year award.

There are separate leagues for boys and girls, one hour weekly practices, and one hour games on Saturday throughout the eight-week season. Children are guaranteed equal playing time and equal teams. To ensure the teams are balanced, participants are individually evaluated and placed on teams according to their skill level. The evaluation process begins Monday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. in the First Baptist Church gymnasium. The first practices will begin the week of Jan. 8. The first week of games will begin Saturday, Jan. 27.

Parents interested in learning more about the league may call Buddy Burgess at (804) 358-2977 or Robin Hendricks (804) 358-5458 ext. 12 for more information or visit www.fbcrichmond.org/upward.
