At a regularly scheduled board meeting in June 2006, the WMU of Virginia board of trustees received and prayerfully reviewed stated concerns from a group of women in a local church regarding personnel issues and organizational structure. While the board believes that actions have been taken according to policy, it wants to address these concerns in a responsible manner.

To that end, the board has approved the appointment of an independent, ad hoc committee comprised of highly-respected Virginia Baptists. Margaret Wayland, former WMU of Virginia and BGAV president, has agreed to chair this committee, which will be charged with reviewing the personnel policy and organizational structure of the WMU of Virginia.

The WMU of Virginia remains focused on how God continues to work through its ministries to bring people to him. Whether it is through World Missions Unlimited, Great Commission Teachers or summer camp at CrossRoads Camp and Conference Center, God is calling out his people. Women, men, boys and girls are hearing their own unique call, connecting their gifts and passions in ministry.

This can be a time of growth and opportunity for the WMU of Virginia as it takes a responsible look at its structure and policy to see if there is any way it can improve. God works together for good to those who are called according to his purposes, and the purpose of WMU of Virginia since 1874 remains the heart of God.

The World for Christ Hallelujah!
