Staff Changes Whitey Davis, now serving as pastor of Sharon Church, Green Bay.
Retirement James E. Browne Sr. has retired as pastor of Second Church, Falls Church, after serving as its pastor for 32 years. Ordinations Nelson Taylor, minister of music at Walnut Grove Church, Mechanicsville, was ordained to the gospel ministry by the church on April 10.
Death Retired Virginia Baptist pastor Thomas J. Powers Sr. died March 23 in Williamsburg at the age of 88. In addition to pastorates in Kentucky and Florida, he served as pastor of Park View Church, Portsmouth, from 1962 to 1985 and was later named pastor emeritus. He had served as a trustee of the Virginia Baptist Homes. Powers was predeceased by his wife, Natalie Reeves Powers. He is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Jr. and William M. Powers, and their families. Funeral services were held at Walnut Hills Church in Williamsburg on March 26. Church News The Chancel Choir of Derbyshire Church, Richmond, will present the choral music of Richmond composer David Schwoebel in “When, In Our Music, God Is Glorified,” on May 1 at 6:00 p.m.
